A Dystopian Stealth Horror Experience

DystO2pia is a atmospheric stealth horror game set in a world where artificial intelligence has rendered oxygen obsolete. Players embark on a haunting journey as a cyborg infiltrator, navigating through oxygen-depleted environments while managing their vital resources and sanity. The game culminates in a moral choice that questions the nature of sacrifice and humanity.

Set in a post-apocalyptic world dominated by the Equinox AI system, players take on the role of a cyborg agent embedded with a kill code. As they navigate through the oxygen-starved facility, they must make their way to Equinox's control center, ultimately facing a choice between humanity's survival and their own existence.

As the lead programmer of the oxygen system, I was responsible for the implementation of the oxygen mechanics including:
- Dynamic oxygen consumption based on stress, walking, running and standing still
- Strategic breath holding mechanic for stealth
- Respiratory debt system where holding breath builds up stress which requires compensatory heavy breathing
- Hyperventilation mechanic to exponentially increasing breathing rate under high stress situations (i.e. being chased)
- Hallucination spawning system to create phantom enemies that act identically to real enemies, illusory resources and workbenches and deceptive environmental elements when players are low in oxygen
